Ashkelon launches a residency-certificate service

From 6 September, Ashkelon Municipality has accepted online residency-certificate applications from residents who are not registered as arnona payers. This lets eligible applicants handle the document for the tax benefit through the municipality rather than only with the Tax Authority.

The new system is intended for residents eligible for the tax benefit who cannot obtain a certificate through the usual municipal route: people living with their parents and tenants who are not registered as arnona payers at their home address.

Applicants fill in the form, attach the required documents and submit the request. After eligibility and data verification, the residency certificate will be sent by email. Residents already registered as arnona payers and identified in the municipal system should continue using the existing application route.

The municipality states that the benefit for Ashkelon residents who meet the conditions is 7% on annual income up to ₪146,640; the conditions include registration in the population registry in the city for 12 months. If the new system cannot issue a certificate, residents can contact the dedicated municipal line at *2660.
