Two Young Men Pulled from Water at Hofit Beach
On June 27, just one day after a tragedy at Dalila Beach, two young men in their twenties were pulled unconscious from the water at Hofit Beach. Lifeguards began CPR on the shore immediately and handed both victims over to paramedics.
The first incident occurred in the afternoon. A young man entered the water in an area not patrolled by lifeguards and was caught in a strong rip current. Bystanders spotted him and called emergency services.
The second incident took place a few hours later, near sunset. Another young man lost consciousness in the water. Both were transported to Barzilai Medical Center in moderate condition. As of the latest reports, their lives are not in danger.
The day before, on June 26, a 40-year-old Ashkelon resident drowned at Dalila Beach — and the string of tragedies within 48 hours raised serious alarm among city authorities.
Ashkelon's beach safety division urges residents: swim only in lifeguard-patrolled zones, never enter the water after dark, and never swim alone. Flags at Ashkelon beaches indicate the danger level — a red flag means swimming is prohibited.
