Ashkelon to host the Journey Through Time festival for the fifth time

During Sukkot, on September 29–30, Ashkelon will host the Journey Through Time festival, combining archaeology, history, workshops, tours, food and family entertainment. The festival is organized by the Ashkelon Municipality together with the Israel Antiquities Authority.

The programme includes archaeological activities and workshops; tours of Ashkelon's historic sites; making models of sarcophagi and mosaics and decorating pottery; ancient board games and quests; photo zones and other activities.

Events will take place, among other venues, in the archaeological garden on Kadesh Boulevard, the sarcophagi courtyard, at the mosaic floor on Yekutiel Adam Street and in the Roman tombs garden.

Free children's concerts will be held on the lawn in Afridar, next to Beit Ha'am, from 17:00. On September 29 Michal HaKtana and Shahar Tabboch will perform, and on September 30 the Sapir family and Dylan Dror. Admission to the concerts is free.

Historical and food tours, priced at 10 NIS, are also back on the programme. Adi Rosen will lead a food tour of the Migdal neighbourhood introducing Ashkelon's culinary diversity.
