Fire drill scheduled in Ashkelon’s Ir HaYayin
The Israel Fire and Rescue Service says an operational drill will take place in Ashkelon’s Ir HaYayin neighborhood on Sunday, November 1. Firefighters will practise responding to a fire in a high-rise building’s parking garage and carrying out rescue scenarios.
The drill is scheduled for 09:00–14:00 at 5 Shirat Hayayin Street. Firefighters will practise a scenario involving a fire in the parking garage of a high-rise building, as well as rescue scenarios.
Smoke generators will be used during the exercise. Increased movement of firefighting and rescue vehicles is expected around the building and in the neighborhood. The service says no roads are expected to be closed and traffic arrangements are not expected to change.
The Fire and Rescue Service is informing building residents and people in the area in advance that this is a planned exercise only, not a real emergency. For safety reasons, the public is asked to avoid gathering near the activity and to let firefighters and participating forces work without interference.
