Ashkelon on July 1: transport, beaches, olim services and city updates
As of July 1, Ashkelon residents have four practical items to check: the official public transport stop registry was updated today, the municipal aliyah coordinator list was updated on June 28, beach use should be checked against the official list of declared bathing areas, and local municipal updates are easiest to follow through neighborhood WhatsApp channels.
The Ministry of Transport’s public transport stop registry on data.gov.il was updated on July 1. For Ashkelon, locality code 7100, the dataset lists 547 stops. This is not a timetable; it is a stop registry, useful for checking whether a boarding point exists and how it appears in official data.
For new immigrants, the official list of municipal aliyah coordinators has also been updated. The Ashkelon entry lists Russian-speaking coordinator Dan Fradkin, mobile 050-468-1136 and email dan-f@ashkelon.muni.il. The contact is useful for first navigation through municipal and government services for olim.
For beaches, residents should distinguish between declared bathing areas and areas where bathing is prohibited. The official registry lists 15 coastal sections in Ashkelon; declared bathing beaches include Bar Kokhba, Delilah, Ashkelon National Park Beach and the separate religious beach. The marina and KATSA sections are marked in the registry as prohibited for bathing.
For neighborhood notices, the municipality maintains a “Neighborhood WhatsApp” page. It is a practical source for short local updates: road closures, works, service notices and neighborhood-level changes should be checked there and on the municipality’s official pages.
