Ashkelon to Open Children's Rehabilitation Center
On June 25, city officials announced the opening of a rehabilitation center for young children in the Ir ha-Yayin neighborhood. The facility will serve children from 6 months to 3 years of age with a range of developmental disorders and disabilities.
The new center will provide families with children with special needs comprehensive support in one place: physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, neuropsychological intervention, and educational guidance — without the need to travel between multiple clinics and offices.
The premises are equipped with specialized therapy equipment, sensory rooms, and play areas adapted to the needs of young patients. The staff includes licensed therapists, educators experienced in working with children with disabilities, and medical professionals.
Enrollment in the center is through a referral from a kupat holim pediatrician or the Ministry of Health. Some services are covered by the health basket; for details, contact the rehabilitation department at your clinic.
Early intervention in the first three years of life is the most effective window for the development and integration of children with special needs. The opening of this center in Ashkelon addresses a real gap: until now, families were forced to travel to Be'er Sheva or Ashdod.
