Ashkelon Academic College: faculties and degree programs
Ashkelon Academic College is a state-recognized institution authorized to award bachelor's degrees, and master's degrees in several fields, in its own name. It grew out of a Bar-Ilan University branch that opened in the city back in 1967.
The college has a Faculty of Economics (management, logistics, banking and accounting) and a Faculty of Social Work — both offering bachelor's and master's degrees. A separate School of Health Sciences offers bachelor's programs in nutrition, nursing and public health.
Other bachelor's programs include political science and government, computer science, sociology and anthropology, psychology, criminology (with a master's track as well), Israel studies, tourism and leisure, and interdisciplinary social sciences. The Council for Higher Education recognized the college as authorized to award degrees starting in the 2006/07 academic year.
Where the college came from and how it got its status
- Faculty of Economics — management, logistics, banking, accounting
- Faculty of Social Work — bachelor's and master's degrees
- School of Health Sciences — dietetics, nursing, public health
The college grew out of a Bar-Ilan University branch opened in Ashkelon in 1967, and was authorized to award its own degrees starting in the 2006/07 academic year. That's part of why some programs — economics, social work, criminology — are available not just at the bachelor's level but also as master's degrees.
